Adding To My Previous Review

After struggling the first time I used the Gingerbread Cottage dies, I tried again. I found my 17 year old cutting panels from a Cuttlebug machine and found that the one labeled “C” was the right thickness. I used it instead of two thinner transparent panels that came with a new Sizzix machine. The does cut all the way through the felt.*
I layered it this way: thin opaque white plastic panel, thick opaque white panel, metal shim magnetic strip, dies with the cutting edge up, felt (cut to 6” wide), then the “C” panel.
* The thicker felt was harder to get through the machine, but the does did cut it also.
I suppose the lesson is to keep trying different combinations of plastic pads or panels until it works. The problem with this is using good felt up experiment. I would highly recommend the metal shim and magnetic panel. They do hold the dies in place, especially when using up felt scraps.

Thanks so much for reaching out! Yes! The key is to find just the right 'sandwich' for your machine! This can mean trialing some different thickness of shims to find a perfect fit for your die. We recommend doing trial cuts with cardstock -if your machine can cut cardstock, it will be able to cut felt! We also have a few blog posts on this topic and our customer service team is always ready to chat too! Happy crafting!
