Hello, friends! I’m Jennifer and I am so happy you are here. I’m excited to share a project that combines the joy of crafting with the magic of imaginative play. Using Benzie wool blend felt, you can create a soft and comfortable mask that is as fun to make as it is to wear. This project is designed as a child’s project and is perfect for beginner and intermediate makers. In about 30 minutes, you and your child can have a handmade felt mask ready for hours of dress-up fun.
Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate
Time: 30 minutes
Additional Supplies:
Dress Up Mask Template (click to download)
Hole Punch
Dress Up Mask Facial Features and Backing SVG Files - optional
Sparkle Paste or Fabric Markers - optional
Directions:
1. Print Dress Up Mask template above at actual size (do not scale) and cut out. If you prefer to use an electronic cutting machine, use the SVG files above.

2. Trace templates onto wool blend felt and cut out each piece. Refer to Cutting Chart on template for color placement and quantity.

3. Draw embroidery details with a Frixion pen. Add bow lines or hair strands using 2–3 strands of embroidery floss. After embroidery is complete, remove pen markings with heat (iron or blow dryer.)
4. On a flat surface, place Template A (Face) as your base. Layer Hair, Eyebrows, Eyelashes,
Blush and Bow according to the placement guide. Attach felt pieces using glue (for a no-sew option) or by hand or machine stitching.

5. Attach the felt backing piece (Template G.) For additional strength, add fusible interfacing between layers. Punch small holes at the sides of the mask. Insert elastic and secure. Adjust for comfort.

6. Embellish with Sparkle Paste or fabric markers, if desired. Let dry fully before wearing.

You’ve created a one-of-a-kind felt dress up mask! Every stitch and detail adds to the fun and makes this project uniquely yours. Celebrate your creativity by encouraging your child to wear their mask for pretend play, a costume party or even family story time.
