Using Felt-fetti means no tracing patterns or cutting out shapes, so you can jump right in to designing your project. Maker Team member Kelly of @bykellyjo is making the most of her time - and yours - by using Felt-fetti shapes to create Floral Ornaments! You won't even need a team of elves to produce a tree's worth of beautiful felt ornaments. Just let Kelly lead the way!
Benzie’s Felt-fetti die cut shapes are my absolute favorite felt hack. Pre-cut felt shapes in a custom color palette? Say less! With just three packs of Felt-fetti shapes and a few basic embroidery stitches, these ornaments come together quickly and are perfect for decorating a tree or using as a gift topper. Plus, the festive florals and a bit of sparkle add a classic holiday vibe!
Skill Level: Beginner
Time: 1 Hour per ornament
NOTE: For Felt-fetti assortments, select a "Custom Palette" with the following felt colors:
Christmas Ornaments - Oats, Blush, Strawberry, Cranberry
Forsythia - Strawberry, Cranberry, Evergreen, Blue Spruce
Dainty Blossoms - Oats, Blush, White
Directions:
1. Each ornament needs two Bases (front and back), one Ornament Topper and a few Floral and Leaf shapes.Arrange felt shapes to plan ornament layout. I mixed and matched different color combos and floral arrangements.

2. Use straight stitches to secure bottom layer of Leaves to front side of ornament Base. Unless otherwise noted, use two stands of embroidery floss in a coordinating color for all stitching.

3. Continue adding layers of Leaves or Petals. Use straight stitches to secure layers where stitching will be hidden by another piece of felt.

4. To secure top layer of Petals, add a few French knots (2-3 wraps) with six strands of floss in a contrasting color.

5. Once satisfied with flower placement, add metallic details. Use one strand of DMC Diamant thread to add straight stitches in starburst and cross shapes around flowers. The front side of ornament Base is now complete.

6. Align completed front of ornament with blank back. Using a blanket stitch, sew along edges to secure front to back. Start at the top and work toward bottom. Carefully lift any overhanging petals and stitch under them. Leave 1" unstitched for stuffing, if desired.

7. Carefully add small pieces of Polyfil until it is evenly distributed and you are satisfied with the look. Benzie’s Stuffing Tool makes this process super easy!

8. To add a loop for hanging, cut 8" length of baker's twine. Knot two cut ends together to make a loop, then tuck knotted end into open top of ornament. Finish sewing ornament closed using blanket stitch. Blanket stitch right through baker's twine to secure.

9. Finally, add ornament Topper to top of ornament. Use a few straight stitches with one strand of DMC Diamant thread.

Hang your floral felt ornaments on the tree or gift them to friends and family this season. In fact, these ornaments come together so quickly, you might just end up making a whole collection of them - to keep or share!

Felt-fetti also makes it easy to mix and match color palettes, and adding more intricate embroidery stitching would be a fun twist. Happy Handmade Holidays!
