Seasonal Crafts

Spring Felt Banner

Share

We are manifesting warmer weather with our crafting projects this month. Our newest tutorial from Maker Team member Heidi of @sisustitchery can be put together in under an hour! If only the flowers and leaves would grow back so quickly. Make use of our deep etch dies and pre-cut felt shapes to quickly craft this Spring Felt Banner and chase away any seasonal depression just as fast!

I don’t know about you, but after months upon months of the grey Pacific Northwest skies, I’m SO ready for spring. The days are getting longer and brighter, the windows are open and it feels like the right time to say “Happy Spring” with a fun, felt banner. This low-pressure felt project adds a pop of seasonal color and cheer to any space. No perfection required - just some felt and a bit of glue to usher in the changing season.

Skill Level: Beginner
Time: 45 minutes - 1 hour

Shop Supplies

NOTE: For Felt-fetti assortments, select a "Custom Palette" with the following felt colors:

Classic Blossoms - Guava, Peony, Magenta, Peach
Dainty Blossoms - Guava, Peony, Magenta, Mint

Additional Supplies:

Spring Banner Template, Full  (click to download)
Spring Banner Template, Half  (click to download)
Die Cut Machine

NOTE: Full size of Banner is 9 x 10". If your printer can print 11 x 17" use Full template option. Otherwise, use Half template option. For Half option, fold felt in half and cut Banner along edges marked “cut.”

Directions:

1. Download Pennant Banner Template (Full or Half) and print onto cardstock. Trace pattern onto White felt and cut out.

2. Use Letterbox Alphabet die and cutting machine to cut out "HAPPY” from Guava felt.

3. Use Letterbox Alphabet die and cutting machine to cut out "SPRING" from Peony felt.

4. Arrange text, felt-fetti and poms into desired pattern. Try overlapping blossoms for additional color and texture. Leave about 1" of space at Banner top for dowel.

5. Use tacky glue to secure all elements to Banner. Allow to dry.

6. Apply a thin line of glue along back top edge of Banner. Fold over about ½" to create an open pocket for dowel. Press down and allow to dry.

7. Once glue is dry, insert dowel into pocket.

8. Glue felt ribbon to either end of dowel to create a hanger. Allow to dry.
