Shhh... We've got a new project to tell you about! As a grandmother and school bus driver, new Maker Team member Kristie of @felt_like_being_crafty has a lot of experience around children. Her first project is for the littlest littles. She's repurposing the Zippered Pouch Die for a swift and sweet Baby Sleeping Door Hanger that makes a great gift for new parents!
Do you have a little one who's a light sleeper? Hang this cute little door hanger to ward off unwanted knocks and doorbells. It will keep that chaos away and baby sleeping a little longer.

Die Cut Machine
Directions:
1. Use Zippered Pouch Die and cutting machine to cut the following from felt:
Girl
Medium Pouch (with scallop) - Cut 2 from Peony
Small Pouch - Cut 1 from Rose Quartz
Bow (2 pieces) - Cut 1 each from Peony
Boy
Medium Pouch (with scallop) - Cut 2 from Viridian
Small Pouch - Cut 1 from Salt Water
2. Download and print Face and Hair Pattern. The same pattern is used for both the girl and boy. Cut and trace pieces onto felt using Frixion pen. Cut out.
3. Place Hair on Crema circle (Face) and use a single strand of DMC 07 to stitch along line of bangs.
4. For Eyes, position two 4 mm brads on Face and poke through felt to secure.
5. Use a touch of Red Tint pan pastel (or paint) to add Cheeks under Eyes.
6. Use Frixion pen to draw a small swoop mouth. Backstitch over guidelines with single strand of DMC 07.
7. Position Small Pouch cutout on the right side of one Medium Pouch Base. Stitch through pre-cut holes with three strands of coordinating floss (DMC 152 for Girl, DMC 519 for Boy.)
8. Use Letterbox Alphabet Die and cutting machine to cut "SHHH BABY SLEEPING" from White felt.
9. Place Face and text on Base to test placement. Once satisfied, stitch Face in place using DMC 07 and 951.
If you are making a girl, assemble Bow and hot glue to Hair.
10. Hot glue letters in place. Be careful! Tweezers can be helpful to protect fingertips.
11. Cut a 10” length of ribbon and use hot glue to attach to front of second Base piece. Do not cover precut stitch holes.
12. Place two Bases together with ribbon sandwiched between. Stitch around perimeter using three strands of coordinating floss (DMC 963 for Girl, DMC 3808 for Boy.) Stop about 2" from starting point to leave opening for stuffing.
13. Add Polyfil to desired puffiness. Once filled, continue stitching until door hanger is closed.
Change the colors to match a nursery theme or switch out the text to add the child's name. Have fun and be creative... but most importantly, be quiet!
