Introducing our new Cluster of Cosmos deep etch die designed by BZ Creations. Once cut, these beautiful flowers are ready to be stitched and displayed within an embroidery hoop - as an evergreen bouquet of Cosmos! Brianna has also created the Ring of Roses and Spray of Sunflowers dies to compliment this design. Display as a set or combine the elements from all three to create a larger floral embroidery piece!
Skill Level: Beginner
Time: 2 hours
Additional Supplies:
Cosmos Template (click to download)
Die Cut Machine
Directions:
All stitching will use three strands of embroidery floss unless otherwise noted.
1. Use Cluster of Cosmos Die and a cutting machine to cut the following from felt:
Cosmo - Cut 1 from Allium and Boysenberry
Cosmo Center (larger circle) - Cut 2 from Mikado
Daisy - Cut 4 from Ecru
Daisy Center (smaller circle) - Cut 4 from Canary
Large Leaf - Cut 2 from Limelight
Small Leaf - Cut 2 from Wasabi
Cut elements have small holes or "pierce points" to use when attaching to backing fabric. As an alternative to die cutting, print Cluster of Cosmos pattern to trace shapes onto felt.
2. Transfer Cosmos Template to cotton fabric with Frixion pen. This can be accomplished using a light source behind the two components, such as a window or light box. Place fabric in hoop.
3. Use four strands of DMC 909 and a stem stitch to create first Cosmo stem.

4. Use same floss to attach adjoining Large Leaf. Come up through pierce point and make one long straight stitch to bottom edge of leaf.

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for second Cosmo stem and leaf.

5. Use DMC 907 and a stem stitch to create Daisy stems. In the same manner as Step 4, use same floss to attach any adjoining Small Leaves.

6. Use DMC 155 to attach Allium Cosmo. Come up through pierce point on each petal and down through flower center. Flower will overhang hoop edge.

7. Use DMC 3685 to attach Boysenberry Cosmo in like manner.

8. Attach Cosmo Centers to each flower with DMC 444 and six French knots (wrapped one time.)

9. Use DMC 739 to attach Daisies. Come up through pierce point on each petal and down through flower center.

10. Attach Daisy Centers to each flower with DMC 3822 and a French knot (wrapped one time.)

11. Once all felt elements are attached, use heat (blow dryer or iron) to remove markings from Frixion pen and your Cluster of Cosmos is complete!

Feeling confident in your floral skills? Try combining Spray of Sunflowers, Cluster of Cosmos and Ring of Roses deep etch dies to make a large Floral Bouquet! This compilation is designed for an 8" embroidery hoop and uses the same techniques, felt and floss to create the elements. Use the Floral Bouquet Template to trace your pattern onto fabric and then start cutting away!
