No helium? No problem! New Maker Team Member Kaitlin of @itsbearscorner is bringing Felt Balloons to the party. These festive balloons can be used to decorate in so many fun ways. And don't even get us started on your color choices! If you get bored with our 150+ felt color options, check out our patterned felt to make your balloon really POP! Well, you know what we mean....
You just need a few supplies and few spare minutes to craft these celebratory keepsakes! Make individual balloons for plants or bouquet fillers or string them together for a cheerful garland. Start with the simple base and embellish to your taste. This is a satisfying project for any skill level!

Time: 20 minutes

Balloon Template (click to download)
Dowel, 1/8" diameter - optional
Directions:
1. Use the Summer Burst Palette included in the Supply List above or pick a felt palette to match your party. A patterned or metallic felt is also great for extra sparkle.
2. Download and print Balloon Template. Cut out and trace onto felt with a Frixion pen or use Freezer Paper method to transfer pattern.
3. Cut out two balloons per felt color. Pin or clip together with right sides facing out.
4. Using two strands of coordinating floss, blanket stitch from one side of base to the
other, leaving bottom open. Do not cut remaining attached floss.
5. Stuff balloon with Polyfil to give it shape.
6. Whip stitch attached thread to back of balloon neck. If using as a pick, insert dowel into balloon neck now. Otherwise, wrap thread tightly around neck and tie off. Base should stick out slightly like a real balloon.
7. Tie bow around neck with string and leave one end long for "holding" balloon.
8. To make a garland, use garland needle to thread string or twine through top of each balloon.
Your balloons are ready, so let's celebrate! Our favorite way to display felt balloons for any events is as a garland.
Try sizing the template up or down depending on the space. If you want to add embroidery or other embellishments, do so before stitching the two sides together. The customizations for this project are endless as well as all the supplies you can use!
