We know our Benzie audience likes things a little spooky and a little sweet for Halloween. In that spirit, we've conjured a little craft to suit your style: Ghostly Charms from Maker Team member Melody of @mel_part. These cheerful felt ghosts will look frightfully good on a backpack or as a purse embellishment. Don't be scared - Melody's tutorial makes this project a breeze!

With Halloween quickly approaching, it’s time to bring out some spooky touches. These little trick-or-treating ghosts are the perfect way to add a bit of Halloween magic to your purse, diaper bag or even a trick-or-treat bucket. They’re cute, festive and beginner-friendly.

Freezer Paper - optional

Directions:

1. Print and cut out template above. Trace patterns onto felt and cut out. Optionally, transfer template to felt using the freezer paper method, which makes cutting small pieces easier.

2. Glue Witch Hat to both Ghost pieces. Keep front and back pieces aligned as they will be stitched together in a later step.

3. Add the following embellishments to front piece:

EYES - Adhere with glue.
MOUTH - Draw with water soluble marker. Backstitch over markings with 6 strands of DMC 310.
HAT RIBBON - Tie tinsel around Hat. Use a small dot of glue to hold in place.
BUCKET HANDLE - Temporarily place Bucket (to be glued later) and draw handle with water soluble marker. Backstitch over markings with Metallic thread.

4. Cut a thin strip of felt matching the Bucket and glue to inside of Back Ghost piece. Thread keychain through and glue strip to itself, making a secure loop. Glue top of strip to inside of Front Ghost piece.

5. Using a blanket stitch and three strands of floss, stitch around sides and top of Ghost. Use DMC 310 to stitch around Hat and DMC 3866 to stitch around Ghost. Before closing, stuff lightly with Polyfil.

6. Glue Bucket and Arms onto Ghost. Trim excess felt from Arms, careful not to cut into stitching.

Your ghostly charms are complete and ready to come along on all your spooky adventures!
