Treat the special kid in your life to the cutest drink around! This tutorial shows you how to create play boba tea, the perfect addition to any imaginary cafe. (My daughter’s imaginary cafe is called Hearts and Unicorns and it’s about to go out of business because all of the felt food is free.) If you’re already selling felt pastries, you need a felt drink on the menu, too!

Boba Tea Templates (click to download)
Disposable Cups (Template is made for these cups and may need adjusting if using different cups.)
Supply List includes boba tea color pictured in this tutorial. To make other colors, buy wool blend felt and coordinating Sulky thread in the following colors: Almond, Mint and Butter. Purchase one additional 9 x 12" sheet of Chicory to make all four cups.
Directions:
1. Download and print Boba Tea Templates above on freezer paper and follow these instructions to transfer templates using freezer paper. Be sure to cut out interior holes of boba tea top and bottom templates.
If you do not have freezer paper, print templates on regular printer paper, cut out along template lines, then trace onto felt using a disappearing ink marking pen.
2. Line up 32 boba circles up along the short curved edge of boba tea wall as shown below. There are 11 circles in the top and bottom rows and 10 in the middle row. Use Turbo Tacky Glue to glue each circle to the wall.
3. Using Sulky 1225 and a blanket stitch, sew two straight ends of boba tea wall together. Set aside.
4. Use same thread and a blanket stitch to sew long edges of straw hole together.
5. Next, use Sulky 1225 and a blanket stitch to sew boba tea bottom to one end of straw hole. This can be a little tricky. The easiest way to do this is to fold down boba tea bottom as you sew so straw hole and bottom are flat against each other.
Repeat Step 5 to sew boba tea top to other end of straw hole.
6. Place completed straw/top/bottom unit into boba tea wall, ensuring short sides and long sides line up.
7. Using Sulky 1225 and a blanket stitch, sew boba tea bottom to short side of boba tea wall. Boba tea top and bottom may look too small to sew to the wall. Trust the process and know that the math is correct! Be sure that you align the entire circle with the wall before you begin sewing.
8. Place straw into straw hole. This helps boba tea maintain its shape during stuffing in the next step.
9. Lightly stuff boba tea around straw. Be sure straw stays centered while stuffing.
10. Use Sulky 1225 and a blanket stitch to sew boba tea top closed.
11. Place boba tea into cup, add lid, and you’re done!
