Let the kids take care of breakfast with this sunny-side up eggs and crinkly bacon set. Maker Team member Kelli of @kellisfeltkitchen is serving another delicious felt food tutorial that has all the ingredients for a good time! Make the elements ahead of time or let little hands help with some of the simpler steps. Order up!
Playing with felt food is a great way for kids to have fun and explore cooking, baking and pretending to work at a restaurant or kitchen. They will love to take your order, arrange a plate, make a sandwich, and serve breakfast, as you enjoy screen–free time together with your little ones. Make sure to always monitor kids while playing with felt play food.

Crinkle Paper
Permanent Marker
Directions:
1. Print Eggs, Bacon and Toast Template to scale at 100% on cardstock and cut out. Using a heat erasable Frixion pen, trace patterns onto felt and cut out. Use permanent marker to trace patterns on crinkle paper.
Bacon
2. Separate Crimson pieces and position side by side in a mirror image.
3. Place Coral pieces on top to resemble bacon fat. Carefully add a thin line of glue to back of each Coral strip and adhere to Crimson pieces. Each Crimson piece should have two Coral pieces glued to it. Let dry for at least one hour.
4. After Coral pieces are dry, position crinkle paper between top and base bacon pieces. Secure with clips and use two strands of DMC 221 to blanket stitch around perimeter. Use two strands of embroidery floss for all stitching.
Repeat Steps 2-4 for second bacon strip.
Egg
5. To make yolk, use DMC 972 and a blanket stitch to secure Golden circle to White egg piece. At halfway point, add Polyfil to give a rounded appearance. Finish stitching.
6. Clip top and bottom White pieces together. Check for areas that need trimming to make top and bottom pieces exactly the same. Blanket stitch around perimeter with DMC B5200.
Repeat Steps 5-6 for second egg.
Cheese
7. For Swiss cheese, clip top and bottom Ecru pieces together. Use DMC 746 and a blanket stitch to stitch around inner circles first.
8. Blanket stitch around outer perimeter with same floss.
9. For American cheese, clip top and bottom Dandelion pieces together. Use DMC 725 to blanket stitch around perimeter.
Toast
10. Place two long Umber pieces together at short ends. Use DMC 400 and a whip stitch to connect felt and make one long piece of crust.
11. Starting at one corner of crust, use same floss to blanket stitch crust to Toast piece. Make sure Umber crust piece is facing right way.
12. Lay bottom Toast piece on top of first, fitting it snugly into opening to align. In the same manner as before, blanket stitch around perimeter, stopping before closing to add Polyfil. Flatten Polyfil while adding to give the piece structure and make it look as bread-like as possible. Overfilling could result in a bun shape.
13. Once stuffed, continue stitching closed. Tuck excess crust behind starting section.
Repeat Steps 10-13 for second piece of toast.
Breakfast is served! This is a great starter breakfast set and would go great with other felt foods, such as fruits, pancakes, ham, butter and so much more!
